Summer Events Happening Nearby Colorado Springs KOA

Old Colorado City Farmers Market

Shop local staples and one-of-a-kind crafts every Saturday from June through October in Old Colorado City’s Bancroft Park. Find fresh local produce, including corn, squash, cantaloupe, fresh herbs, and other options such as honey, cheese, bread, pasta, and salsas. You can also find a very nice variety of crafts, homemade soaps, and fresh flowers.

Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb

Also known as The Race to the Clouds, America’s second-oldest auto race is an invitational automobile hill climb to the summit of Pikes Peak. It features the best drivers and riders from around the world. The race is held on the last Sunday in June, and spectators can view the action from designated areas along the route.

Fan Fest precedes the event. Held on the Friday before Race Day, more than 30,000 people gather in Downtown Colorado Springs to experience a 10-block street party with plenty of food, live entertainment, and rows of vendors.

Clinch Peak or Bust Rodeo

Saddle up for four days of cowboy fun beginning July 13th at the scenic Norris-Penrose Event Center. Whether you are a rodeo enthusiast or a first-timer, you and the family won’t want to miss this often sold-out event. See athletes compete for top prize money in bareback riding, steer wrestling, team roping, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, barrel racing, and bull-riding. Also, enjoy tasty food and unique retail vendors, along with activities like gold panning, pony rides, mechanical bull rides, and more.

Donkey Derby Day

The beginning of Donkey Derby Days dates back to the 1930s. The Cripple Creek festival, the last on the list of summer events, featured donkey racing, food, live music, and vendors. The town’s resident donkey herd is believed to be distant relatives of the original donkeys from the town’s Gold Rush days. This year, Donkey Derby Day happens on August 13th.
